The food at this place is absolutely scrumptious! We really enjoyed a birthday lunch this past weekend. I highly recommend the fajitas! Some of the best meat I’ve had in a long time. The service was excellent and its a really unique Texas-themed experience. Give them a try!

Absolutely gorgeous place with a great patio! Food was outstanding and the service was great and friendly. Margaritas were also extremely well done. Those fajitas were off the chart! And that monkey bread, bread pudding or whatever it was, superb.

Culpepper
A Texas-themed restaurant that ticks all the boxes: steaks, burgers, and Tex-Mex, all served in a charming historical building. It’s the perfect spot for out-of-town visitors, a casual date, or even just unwinding after work at the bar.

Summary:
Skip the appetizers, but dive into the entrees and pair them with their fantastic cold drinks and cocktails.

Food:

• Pineapple Coconut Shrimp: Not my personal favorite, as it felt reminiscent of a chain restaurant appetizer. However, my wife loved it, especially with the pineapple sauce.
• Meatballs: Decent, albeit a bit on the salty side. While they didn’t leave a lasting impression on me, the kids were satisfied and happily snacked on these while waiting for the main course.
• Combo Fajitas: Exceptionally well-prepared. My only gripe is the lime rind juice, which sometimes overwhelms the flavor. Still, it’s a solid option for fajita lovers.
• Hamburger: Surprisingly, this western-themed steakhouse serves up one of the best cheeseburgers I’ve had. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s bursting with flavor and lands solidly in my top 10.

Atmosphere:
The western décor, paired with neon lights and exposed brick, gives this place a cool, polished ’80s vibe. It feels vintage yet clean and inviting.

Service:
Service here is stellar. I’ve been three times, and each visit has been met with friendly, attentive staff. There’s a negative review floating around about a “blue-haired woman”—but if it’s the same person who served us (Daisy, I believe), I can’t say enough good things. She was fantastic. Definitely ask for her if she’s working!

Pro Tips:

• Happy hour runs from 4-6 pm, and beers are served extra cold!
• Mondays: Cheeseburgers are just $10 all day. But don’t forget—they close the kitchen at 8:45 pm.
• Fridays: Fajitas are also $10 during lunchtime.
• Free private gated parking is a huge bonus.

The best drink: the “Mexican from Austin” a tequila based martini. It tastes like a famous martini from an old restaurant named Trudy’s from Austin Texas. Try it and change your life.

Flip Side Review:
Unfortunately, the appetizers don’t shine here. While the outdoor bar is appealing, there’s a bit of an off-putting smell in the area, which makes dining inside the better option. Otherwise, the patio would be perfect for cooler Texas evenings or brunch. Another thing pointed out to me that might be unexpected for some is that they don’t bring out chips and salsa here as most Tex Mex spots do while looking over the menu, they bring out flour tortillas and butter. Not a big deal for me but may be worth noting for others.

Overall:
Culpepper is a fantastic spot to enjoy an ice-cold drink, great music, and a welcoming atmosphere. While some appetizers fall short, the entrées, drinks, and service make it well worth the visit.

I have to say that this was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. This restaurant is what Deep ellum has been needing for such a long time.
After hearing about this new restaurant in the area, I was excited to see it for my self. Needless to say, they didn’t disappoint.
Service, food/drinks and ambiance were all on point.
We had the crispy calamari, firecracker shrimp appetizer and it was as perfect as could be, hot, fresh and flavorful.
The salads were all fresh and crisp, and our steaks and double bone pork chops were perfectly cooked and was surprised at how affordable it was for the quality of food they served.
Satisfied with our whole dining experience and will happily come back again.

Came here with a friend for dinner and I had a good experience. There’s parking on site along with valet. The customer service was amazing and the waitresses were very attentive! For drinks, I ordered the purple passion and cowboy cosmo and they were both lovely made. We had the chips + guac for the table and it could’ve handled a little more salt and lime. I ended up ordering the combo fajitas (chicken + steak) and thoroughly enjoyed them. Overall, my experience here was pretty good and I’ll plan on returning to try other items!

This was our first visit dining in for lunch at Culpepper’s.Our waiter Leo was very attentive to our guests and had a very cool and courteous demeanor. We ordered the chicken and steak fajitas for lunch. For dessert I ordered the monkey bread. The fajitas were very tasty and filling. The monkey bread tastes very good and reminds me of bread pudding. I would recommend it and make sure that there’s no egg shell in there which is what mine had in it (pictured in the upper right hand side of plate by the knife).

Overall, we had a very nice time and recommend dining here as a group or individual.

Everything about CCC was great: the service (thanks Jesus), the food and the atmosphere! Lots of options on the menu to select from. I had chicken fried steak and it did NOT disappoint. Portion was huge! Drinks were just as tasty as the food. Parking was super easy, too. Can't wait to return!

Been to Culpepper Cattle Co. 3 times in the last week. One for a Birthday Lunch Celebration, Happy Hour Function for Apartment Community and the other was for Client Dinner Meeting. Service was great...Met Steve/Stephen the General Manager (two thumbs up) awesome food and drinks. Location is just around the corner from Big Baylor (walking distance) and they have private parking and valet - which is always a plus.

Also in the building is one of my favorite coffee places - also great for quick one on one meetings...Let's not forget Tina's Continental Martini Bar - so so good!

If you go... you must get the steak it is to die for...the puffy tacos are great too...and my friends had the fajitas - excellent choice and I had a chicken salad for lunch - it was great.

The Avo Suave drinks are my favorite!

So glad to have Culpepper here in Deep Ellum!
