I hate to see these reviews as I was raised at Echo Ridge in the 70's and it was a wonderful place to grow up. My Uncle was on the board and my mother was the manager for years. However; I was privy to the greedy attitude and downright thievery of the board when my mother passed away. The board of directors had become dishonest and were buying multiple units. This is illegal so their "niece, son, cousin......" were put on the share certificate to bypass this law.

The prices and the size of the townhomes here are the positives of this community, and the only reason it gets 3 stars. However, the negatives are not insignificant.

The person in the review who stated that there are many elderly residents here that are all up in your business is completely right. The description of Gestapo is fairly accurate because these board people will basically watch your every move in order to try to fine you or get you in trouble. They will complain about relatively minor issues (i.e. plants they don't like that you have out on your lawn) and you can't have more than one vehicle if you live here. They will threaten to evict you and repossess your unit for such violations. I really hate going outside when anyone is out because I feel like these people are just waiting to judge me or catch me doing something they disapprove of. They don't really like people moving in who are younger. The previous reviewer was not kidding when she said that these people have nothing better to do than watch your every move.

If you are an older person, specifically retired, and not preoccupied with other day-to-day life concerns, then this is an appropriate place for you. If you have a family and your kids are unusually quiet, then you might be fine too as long as you only have one car. I don't think it's the right place for anyone who doesn't fit a certain mold, however.

On the plus side, the monthly costs are cheap, the units are relatively large, and it's much better than most apartments.

Bad news. Read their rules. The board has to approve of you even though you are buying. Maybe they don’t like your color or whatever it is about you. Co-ops are a scam

If you want a ton of people in your business, to be bullied and harassed or to wish you never invested in the place, then Echo Ridge is the place for you! This place is a joke. Most people are elderly and have nothing better to do than harass other people. The board is nothing short of a glorified Gestapo. Move in here and you are most likely going to regret it!
