Established in 1953 , Indian coffee house is one of those iconic cafés set up post independence and are still running . As soon as you enter the place it brings you down to your childhood memory lane . They have still the same interior . Same typical chairs and furniture. If I am not mistaken the sadar Indian coffee house is the only one left in the city . The staff is very courteous and tha manager is super sweet. Now talking about the food , one thing you shouldn’t absolutely miss trying here is their special coffee which is the South Indian filter coffee absolutely aromatic and is packed with flavours . It is not that instant coffee that is usually served elsewhere. Another dish I would recommend is French toast , vegetable cutlets , bread jam and butter . They do a bunch of South Indian dishes plenty of them actually , dosas, idlis and various vadas. Do try these and experience time travel for sure . Would recommend this place for a laid back Sunday morning breakfast.

The place brings some old aesthetic and nostalgic vibes. The staff in uniform brings charm to this place. Location is way too prime.

One of my most favourite food place. I love the classic old ambiance.
Taste here is incomparable. My favourites are ‘Scrambled Eggs with Toast’, ‘Upma’, ‘Wada Sambar’, ‘Filter Coffee’ in the end.
Me and our friends have a ritual of going for a brunch here every Sunday!
I really wish this place remains as it is forever.

A Nostalgic Sip, A Fading Taste

The Indian Coffee House chain, a cooperative society owned and operated by its employees, is a historical landmark in India's culinary scene. Its vintage charm and rich coffee tradition have captivated patrons for decades.

The Nagpur Coffee House, a part of this legacy, still retains its old-world appeal. The ambiance, with its worn furniture and antique decor, evokes a sense of nostalgia. However, the recent decline in service quality and food consistency has marred the overall experience.

While the coffee, particularly the filter coffee, continues to be a highlight, the waiting time can be excessive, especially during peak hours. The food, although still decent, lacks the quality and taste it once had in the 90s. The sambar, a staple accompaniment, has lost its authentic flavor and depth.

Despite these shortcomings, the Indian Coffee House remains a significant cultural institution. Its historical significance and unique ambiance make it a worthwhile visit for those seeking a taste of the past. However, one must be prepared for a potential wait and a slightly compromised dining experience.

An absolute perfect brekfast place. A retro place with vintage food vibes and adorable taste at a low price what else we need. The service had me every time, the staff always gret with a smile on face and a quick serving. Basic items on menu such as cutlet, bread jam, omlet, etc. has to be admired. There is absolutely nothing you could complain about considering the low price. Also the ambience of place speaks old school vibe which am in love with, speaking of the own heritage of this place.

In contrast the only thing that am not satisfied with are drinkables; coffee, tea and even water are not up to mark at all. But everything else is definitely worth it.

Average Review: Indian Coffee House, Sadar

Indian Coffee House in Sadar is a place filled with nostalgia, but it might not appeal to everyone equally. For those who appreciate a simple, no-frills ambience and affordable prices, it offers a cosy retreat. The old-school charm and vintage décor transport you back to simpler times, but some might find it outdated compared to modern cafes.

Food and Service

The South Indian dishes like dosa, idli, and vada are reasonably good, though not exceptional. The filter coffee is a crowd favourite, but the taste of the food can be inconsistent at times. Service is polite but can be slow, especially during peak hours, and the menu might lack variety for those who want more than just the basics.
Ambiance

The atmosphere is relaxed, but the décor is a bit worn out, which may not suit those looking for a more contemporary or polished setting. However, for people who value tradition and aren’t in a rush, it offers a unique experience that’s hard to find elsewhere.

Overall

Indian Coffee House is best for those seeking an affordable, nostalgic dining experience, but if you're after a more modern vibe or gourmet flavours, this may not be the place for you.

The menu was well-curated, offering a variety of dishes that cater to different tastes. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The ingredients used were of high quality, and the balance of flavors in each dish was spot on. Whether you’re a fan of rich, savory meals or lighter, more delicate flavors, this restaurant has something for everyone. The desserts, in particular, were a highlight – decadent yet not overly sweet, a perfect end to the meal.
